Janet Jackson Poetic Justice Inspired Makeup Tutorial

What can I say!?!? Some days you wake up feeling a little 90s-like after watching Poetic Justice on Netflix the night before. It happens. Well that’s exactly what happened to me. So today we go back a decade (or 2) to dupe Janet Jackson’s girl-next-door look from the movie.

EASY 90s FASHION & MAKEUP ZONE

Getting Janet Jackson Poetic look will be super simple and easy (see video of me wearing her look here). The hardest part will be creating that perfect beauty mark. We will use a drawstring ponytail/hairpiece. Her hair is in braids which can take hours (or even days) to install. It can also cost hundreds of $dollars. But don’t fret. Our look = 5 Minutes + $10!

POETIC JANET IN 5 MINUTES!!

To achieve Janet’s signature cheekbones, I had to do heavy contouring to my face and I still didn’t quite “nail it” . I used  darker contouring powder than normal which also darkened my entire complexion a bit. I also spent extra time to get that perfect 90s brow. They are full and flawless! For the lips, I lined them heavily and filled them in with a natural / neutral lipstick shade – another signature makeup look from the 90s. The JJackson beauty mark seals the deal for our inspired Poetic Justice look.
