James Rebhorn, an actor you would definitely recognize, grew up in Indiana.

He spent his childhood in Anderson, Indiana. James Rebhorn left the state after graduating high school to pursue a career in political science and theater, attending Wittenberg University in Ohio.

James Rebhorn, Hoosier

After graduating, James Rebhorn took off for New York, getting his Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University’s School of Fine Arts. Don’t you wonder if he ever looked back?

He’s someone you would recognize. He was the secretary of defense in Independence Day, he also appeared in Law and Order, Meet the Parents, Guiding Light, As the World Turns, and many, many more!

Indiana Resident

Whenever I see a displaced Hoosier, I always wonder if they miss the cornfields of home. Do they miss the people?

Do they miss those every day exchanges, walking around the place they lived, the friendly nods and “how are you’s?” with the people they meet (and most likely know or recognize)? I can only hope he found that wherever his acting career took him!

But what a career! It’s enough to make any Hoosier proud.

Hollywood lost another great actor this year, certainly another one taken way before his time. Rest in peace, Mr. Rebhorn. You will be missed.
