Jake Nicoll: Lonely Mission

Jake Nicoll

When the pandemic hit Canadian musician and record producer Jake Nicoll's busy life grounded to a halt. He made the most and set up a studio in his family farm, enabling to mess around with songs that were obviously inspired by the singer-songwriters of the early Seventies. He picked the best ones for an introspective album, Lonely Mission. It sounds definitely old school and organic, captured by his self-built microphones.

His music allowed him to travel, while being stuck in the middle of nowhere in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Nicholl did some serious soul-searching, but it never gets larmoyant - no signs of self-pity or getting his knickers in his twist because his limited possibilities to get out. If anything, he had to reassess what matters most him: his loved ones and his music. With on point harmonies provided by siblings Billy and Ilia, and backing vocals by Pamela Mackenzie and Thom Coombes on the self-deprecating Music For No-One, he celebrates his return to the outside world with these songs that are sure fire cure for loneliness.
