Jagwar Ma is Refreshing and Hypnotic [stream]

When I search for new music, one quality is almost guaranteed to pique my interest — a truly eclectic sound. This is precisely what Australian up-and-comer Jono Ma aka Jagwar Ma (@jono_ma) posseses. The minimal looping aesthetic of his song “What Love” acts as a finely distilled solution, perfectly blending indie pop with electronica-based beat making.

His forthcoming single due out in February, however, demonstrates a new direction. Grounded with an almost Mersey beat, he playful alters and builds upon the sound in a clean, refreshing, catchy and wonderfully hypnotic sort of way. Considering the diversity, dexterity and dangerous level of danceability found in these two songs alone, I for one cant wait to hear what other sonic territories this talented Aussie explores in the near future.
