So picture it, you’re in a lingerie shop, shopping for something fun (hopefully), and in comes a woman wielding a camera who asks to take your picture for a mom style blog, written in another language. Would you….?
a) Let the girl take your damn picture, she’s cute, seems friendly and isn’t that creepy! Besides, isn’t it nice that someone appreciates the effort you put into your mom style?
OR
b) Look around nervously like there is a band of wild chickens that are suddenly encircling you from all angles. They look angry, have beaks, and will use them. Follow this reaction by looking at your feet, then your watch. Eventually say you’re “in a rush” and then RUN in the other direction!
Or better yet
c) Look at your boyfriend / husband and ask his permission to have your picture taken!!! (2014 PEOPLE!!!)
Thankfully this stylish mom chose A ! And isn’t her look awesome!
The Reason She Dressed
Last weekend we were strolling along and I stepped into a lingerie store. Although I’m in desperate need of new cute things, I think I’ll wait for the sales to hit (or a gift to arrive….hint hint husband, if you are reading this!…….*sigh* he is not!).
I noticed this mom and just had to take her picture. Luckily for me, she let me!
What She Wore
I’m not sure what is better about her look, her perfectly coiffed hair, or her awesome (real) Church’s brogues!
Rolled, cuffed pants with socks and loafers/brogues has been in for a while. It is the type of chic androgynous look that only cool girls can pull off with success. I attempted it here, but ended up looking a bit like Michael Jackson….which is ok too!
The Magic is in the Details
I may be reading too much into this, but I see this subtle look as actually being a perfectly curated arrangement of complex details. It looks simple, but there is a lot going on here. Her sweet polka dot socks with classic laced Church’s….delicate tattoos….red nails and multiple bracelets…lace trim on a leather jacket with gold chain detailing. It all works so well together but nothing is overwhelming.
Her leather jacket is by Italian designer and brand Elisabetta Franchi, the collection can be found online here (with last season’s discounted styles as well).
The Real ….Deal!
I mentioned that her shoes are real Church’s, these puppies cost a pretty penny, but anyone I know who owns a pair says they last forever, are comfortable and are the epitome of craftsmanship. Did you know that Church’s was recently bought by Prada? The now $400 – $600 price tag is a steal, and word on the street is that they are making the shoes more “accessible”.
My husband would LOVE a pair of Church’s, but if you’re like me and would be happy with a similar style at a fraction of the price than I recommend this alternative.
These original Church’s are $456 found online here. The Deal is only $70 (original price was $160), real leather and completely artisan hand made in Italy! This exact pair is available online here or see the whole collection here.
Tomorrow I’ll be sharing what I wore this same day and how I’m feeling a bit like an Italian homebody these days. The winter has begun! happy Tuesday everyone
