Donald Trump...............304
Hillary Clinton...............228
Others...............6
Some had hoped that many of the electors would abandon Trump and prevent his presidency. It was even suggested that as many as 40 electors would change their votes. But that was never a real possibility, and frankly, I'm surprised that 6 electors did change their votes (with three of them being from each camp).
Those Electoral College voters are chosen precisely because of their rabid support for a candidate, and it is extremely rare for any of them to change their vote. Throughout our history the electors have remained very faithful to the candidate who won their state.
It's official now. On January 20 of 2017, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 45th president of the United States.
We will have to suffer through the Trump administration for the next four years -- unless he is impeached for corruption. And I believe that is a real possibility. Trump, with his refusal to divest his holdings and his strange/scary cabinet picks, he seems to be setting his administration up as the most corrupt in this nation's history. The only real question is whether it will reach a level that convinces some Republicans he cannot remain in office (because it would require some GOP help to impeach him).
