According to the latest data from a research by Net Applications, worldwide Android smartphone and tablet usage share has seen a small spike from 43.75% to 44.62%, while iOS powered iPhones and iPad’s saw a drop in their share to 44.19% from 45.61%, allowing Android to take over the throne.

The small drop of iOS usage may not be a reason to celebrate victory for Android, especially considering the upcoming next-gen iPhone’s slated to be unveiled next month. However, it will be a milestone for Google, as this was the first time Android ever surpassed iOS usage, ever since the release of first Android OS.
