It's Monday! What Are You Reading? Button

Hosted by Sheila from Book Journey, this is a weekly event to share what we’ve read in the past week and what we hope to read, plus whatever else comes to mind. To learn more about each book, just click on the book cover!

Finished Last Week:

Dark Rooms by Lili Anolik

Dark is the key word here. Dark, intense, upsetting – I seriously loved every minute of it. Simply stunning as it explores the deepest elements of the well of human emotion.

The Mermaid's Child by Jo Baker

This one is an odd duck. It was nowhere near what I expected. Jo Baker definitely can turn a phrase, but this one is so harsh to the eye and ear that it leaves a reader emotionally numb. While this is done on purpose to mirror the main character’s experiences, it takes some fortitude to get through the story and will most likely turn off most potential readers.

Did Not Finish:

Mademoiselle Chanel by C. W. Gortner

Beautifully written but did not keep my attention enough to entice me to finish it.

The Wilderness of Ruin by Roseanne Montillo

While it should be interesting, I found myself finding excuses not to read.

Currently Reading:

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

Currently Listening:

So not on the priority list this past week.

Up Next:

The Forgotten Girls by Sara Blaedel
Liars, Inc. by Paula Stokes
The Damned by Andrew Pyper
Pet Sematary by Stephen King
The Cemetery Boys by Heather Brewer
At The Water's Edge by Sara Gruen
The Strangler Vine by M. J. Carter
