It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? – 4 January 2016

By Whatsheread
It's Monday! What Are You Reading? Button Hosted by Kathryn from Book Date, this is a weekly event to share what we’ve read in the past week and what we hope to read, plus whatever else comes to mind. To learn more about each book, just click on the book cover!

FINISHED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:

The Captive Condition by Kevin P. Keating
After the Crash by Michel Bussi
The Lady of Misrule by Suzannah Dunn

The Swans of Fifth Avenue by Melanie Benjamin

The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins

It has been two weeks since I shared what I have been reading with everyone. I read all of my January review copies. I think this is the first time in over a year that I am caught up on review copies – both electronic and print versions. It’s a great feeling!

As usual, my reading took an eclectic turn. From a weird little horror story to an intense thriller to a historical fiction novel set in Tudor England to a historical fiction novel set among the upper echelon of New York Society to a freaky science-fiction/fantasy/horror hybrid. My favorite of the group is by far the latter, which ended up being my first 2016 book.

Michel Bussi’s novel is releasing tomorrow from Hachette Books; you should check out this imaginative unknown identity mystery for yourself. My review will post later this week.

I did really love Melanie Benjamin’s newest right up until the end. For some reason, the end fell flat for me; however, I know others are going to love it.
