" data-orig-size="265,400" sizes="(max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px" aperture="aperture" />Sylvain Neuvel’s final installment of The Themis Files trilogy does not disappoint in any way. It remains a study in human nature as well as a twist on linguistics, science, and politics that I devoured in a day. While I am sad the series is at an end, I am thoroughly satisfied with the way it ends and hope that some day he will see fit to revisit the Themis world.
Rachel Kushner’s new novel is a phenomenal look at the prison system and the milieu that typically ends up as part of that system. The theme of choice is a powerful one that makes you reconsider those on the outer fringes of society. It is not an easy read given the harshness of the system, the language, and the frankness of the characters, but I do feel it is an essential read in order to understand more about our broken penal system and those for whom one could argue have no choices when it comes to what life offers.
