Molly Harper’s novels, combine with Amanda Ronconi’s narration, are the perfect escapist read for me. There is usually nothing strenuous about the story, requiring 100 percent of my attention. They are always charming, always funny, and always romantic. Her novels are the ones I gravitate towards when I am low because they always cheer me. While Rhythm and Bluegrass is not her strongest novel, her goofy hero and awkward, nerdy heroine still charm their way into your heart and put a smile on your face. That is all I ever want from Ms. Harper’s novels, and once again, she delivers.

The latest Mira Grant novel is creepy AF. For the first time in a long time, I was uncomfortable reading a book at night. But, like the sadist I must be, I could not stop reading it. A fantastic horror story to round out the year.

That the new Andy Weir novel is not as good as his first one is no surprise. The shoes were just too big to fill, even if they are his own shoes. It is still entertaining, filled with a lot of science and a lot of snark. There are some funny one-liners throwing shade at Mark Watney too. I can see why people are disappointed, but I read it in the course of one evening, so it wasn’t too horrible.
