Book Cover Image: The Confusion of Languages by Siobhan Fallon
" data-orig-size="267,400" sizes="(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px" aperture="aperture" />Ami McKay’s novel is such a FUN read! Using the age-old method of condemning smart, powerful women as witches, Ms. McKay creates a historical novel that is oh-so appropriate for today’s climate.
Beth Underdown’s novel was an intriguing glimpse into a real-life historical figure. While much of the story is fictional, there are enough tantalizing bits of history included, as she notes in her Author’s Note, to learn a little something about the time period. Plus, as our government continues to hate women, any novel involving witch hunts feels particularly timely.
Siobhan Fallon’s newest novel brought back SO many memories of being an Army officer’s bride of five months moving to Germany and having to deal with a new culture and new life together. She gets the feeling of living abroad so right.

" data-orig-size="258,400" sizes="(max-width: 194px) 100vw, 194px" aperture="aperture" />It did not even take me one chapter to get thoroughly annoyed with the characters, with the language, and with the writing. I rapidly closed this one and do not regret it for a minute.
