What Are You Reading?

Hosted by Sheila from Book Journey, this is a weekly event to share what we’ve read in the past week and what we hope to read, plus whatever else comes to mind.

Finished Last Week:

Waistcoats & Weaponry by Gail Carriger
Citizens Creek by Lalita Tademy

Did Not Finish:

Dead or Alive by Tom Clancy

I used to love the Jack Ryan series when I was younger. There was something about how Clancy took the Cold War and made it more real than anything I could possibly experience. The series did suffer once the Cold War ended, but I still enjoyed the series. It has been more than a few years since I’ve ready anything by Clancy, so I thought I would continue the series via audio. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the story, but I wasn’t feeling it as an audiobook. There are too many characters, too many scene shifts and a penchant for drawn-out explanations that tend to cause audiobooks to drag. I know I have a printed copy of this book somewhere in the house. I may pull it out one day when I’m in the mood for a good, old-fashioned spy story.

Currently Reading:

Lives in Ruin by Marilyn Johnson

Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote
