Hosted by Sheila from Book Journey, this is a weekly event to share what we’ve read in the past week and what we hope to read, plus whatever else comes to mind.

Finished Last Week:

The Wife, The Maid and The Mistress by Ariel Lawhon
Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter

Nil by Lynne Matson

Did Not Finish:

I Always Loved You by Robin Oliveira

This is not a reflection on Ms. Oliveira’s story by any means. Her writing is so evocative; with the picturesque backdrop of Paris, it is something to behold indeed. Her characters are fully fleshed and crystal clear in their descriptions. The problem is all me. I discovered while reading this that I do not enjoy novels of this sort – the type that dig deeper into a famous person’s romantic life or tries to fill in the gaps between concrete knowledge and supposition. I’m sure Mary Cassatt and Edgar Degas had a beautiful and passionate relationship; I just do not want to read about it. Again, this is nothing against Ms. Oliveira. In fact, from the half of the book I read, it is a gorgeous book. I just find myself feeling a bit too much like a voyeur for comfort.

Currently Reading:

Panic by Lauren Oliver

Currently Listening:

An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon

Promise of Shadows by Justina Ireland

Into the Dark Book #1: The Shadow Prince By Bree Despain
