What Are You Reading?

Hosted by Sheila from Book Journey, this is a weekly event to share what we’ve read in the past week and what we hope to read, plus whatever else comes to mind.

Finished Last Week:

Things Half in Shadow by Alan Finn
All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque

Could Not Finish:

The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion

Graeme Simsion’s first novel about Don Tillman was charming, funny, and engaging. It really did not need a sequel, in my opinion, but that did not stop me from wanting to read it. Perhaps it is me, perhaps it is my stress levels at this time of year, but I could not get into Don’s latest story. What once was charming is now annoying. Don’s logical tendencies actually made me upset. Reading this was not relaxing at all. Rather, I would find my mind whirling in panic at all of the things I need to get done at work and at home. This defeats the purpose of reading, in my opinion. I want to relax and escape my own issues, not be reminded of them. Therefore, I quickly realized that for my own sanity, I could not continue with this one.

Currently Reading:

Perdita by Hilary Scharper

Currently Listening:

As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes, Joe Layden, Rob Reiner

Up Next:

The holidays are meant for surprises, right?
