Yesterday saw the first 20120 Olympic gold medals being won by Team GB and it was girl power in action as the winners of the Women’s Pairs rowing event powered their way across the finishing line well ahead of their competitors. Olympic newbie Helen Glover and army captain Heather Stanning celebrated with hugs and tears as they won the coveted gold medals at Eton Dorney. And their faces will gracing our first class stamps as early as today as the Royal Mail rushed their print-run of commemorative stamps of the gold medal winners to post offices around the country over night – and here’s a sneak peek of the design:
And yesterday also saw UK Tour De France winner Bradley Wiggins on the top of the podium celebrating a gold medal in the cycling, making history as Britain’s most decorated Olympian. Congratulations to all the Team GB medalists so far, keep up the good work!
