Look I understand what the 3-4 DE is supposed to do. So please don't accuse me of looking at stats only when making this judgment. I don't claim to understand all the technical nuisances of the position either, I am looking at this from an educated fan's perspective, that is all. I am using the eyeball test and the comparison test to base my opinion.
Ziggy was drafted in the first round and when I watch him, I see Kevin Henry and Nolan Harrison. Average ends at best who don't stand consistently stout against the run. I certainly don't put Ziggy in Brett Keisel or Aaron Smith territory and I consider him to be much less effective than even Kimo Von Oelhoffen was as a DE.
Its been 4 years, and it seems that Ziggy has reached his peak as a player, as an Average 3-4 DE in the NFL.
Average is not what you want from a 1st round pick.
Next year at this time, I hope I am not having the same conversation about Cameron Heyward.
