The Inter-District Combined Schools U-20 Hockey Boys’ and Girls’ Championship organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association will be played today at the Astro Hockey Turf Reid Avenue.
According to the Secretary of the Schools Hockey Association Anuruddha Herath Bandara,The four-day tournament, this year in its 55th chapter, will see 13 teams from the boys and seven from the girls.This four day tournament give more exposure for the Schools strikers while after a lapse of four years newly elected schools hockey officials are expected to organize this event and get maximum success during this difficult period added Anuruddha Herath Bandara the Secretary and also the former National Hockey head coach.
The tournament will kick off today morning at 8am and will come to a close on Thursday evening.
Boys’ teams:
Group A: Matale Schools Golds, Gampaha schools, and Kalutara schools
Group B: Colombo Schools Blues, Badulla schools, Kandy Schools White and Matara Schools
Group C: Galle Schools Golds, Puttalam Schools and Matale Schools Maroon
Group D: Colombo Schools red, Kandy Schools Blue, and Galle Schools maroon Girls’ teams:
Group A: Kandy Schools (blue), Colombo Schools (blue), and Matale Schools, Kalutara Schools
Group B: Colombo Schools Red, Kandy Schools White, and Puttalam Schools
