Remember how Amazon made a huge pile of money by releasing the affordable Kindle Fire tab for just $199 in the 2011 holiday season? Well, now Intel plans to do the same thing, but with a cheaper and a less-interesting tablet.
Intel CEO Brian Krzanich has recently mentioned that he has plans to launch cheaper tablets with Atom chips to target emerging markets, according to QUARTZ. Talking to CNET, Intel’s Chris Walker has confirmed this news and says that these low-end tablets will get powered by Android, despite their love for Windows. Release date of these device remains a mystery at this point, but reports suggests it could happen in this holiday season. Considering the low price tag, these tabs will only be good for doing simple tasks such as web browsing or running old apps.

So far, Amazon’s $159 Kindle Fire has my vote for the best cheapest tablet as it packs 1Ghz dual-core CPU with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. And, Nexus 7 is pretty great too. Let’s see if Intel could beat that.
