When it comes to sharing your photos online, you should avoid using social networks such as Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and even Google+. This applies specially to photographers who value each and every one of their precious photos because once you post a picture on these social networks, they immediately gain control of your content. Even if they start selling those photos to others or if they use your photos on ads without permission, you won’t have a say in it because according to their privacy policy and user agreement that you accept without reading, you basically give them all your content. This is something a lot of photographers miss out on.
So, when it comes to sharing or storing photos online, the best place for photographers is Flickr. It’s free to use, gives you 1TB of free space to store photos in high resolution and more importantly, you get to control your copyright. On Flickr you get to choose copyright settings for each and everyone of your photos, which means no one can steal your photos without your permission. Even if you upload your photos under creative commons license, you will still get the credit for the photos.

Flickr also has a great, professional user base and communities for niche photographers with a set of tools for editing and even sharing photos on websites or social networks. You can make albums and even make photos private.
Forget about getting a few likes on your photos and think twice about the value of your photos before giving them away for evil social networks. Also, try to read those long terms of agreement when creating accounts on any website.
