I know you’re probably sick of me telling you to follow your passions, but sometimes no matter how many times we hear it, we still don’t do it. Instead, choosing a job because we think we “should” or keeping people in our lives who bring us down, just because we’re afraid of doing the things we want to alone. Through my recent years of practicing, and improving my mediations, thanks in part to this amazing woman and man, following my passions has become more than just motivating words, it has become my way of life. When friends and family approach me seeking advice, it makes me feel humbled and honored that they see me as someone to guide them.
So, when talking with a friend, who is graduating college and preparing to enter the next chapter of their lives, I said the above words to him. I encouraged him to envision his dream clearly, to put it in his mind; where he wants to be, the things he wants to do, and to think of all the ways he could get there. I also told him to remain open to whatever came his way, if it felt right and ignited some passion within him, at whatever point in his life, than he would making the right choice. But if at any time faced to make a choice that is realistic, and along the lines of something you “should” do instead of “wanting” to do, then to think twice before deciding. Because if it doesn’t align with your passions, then essentially you’re veering away from that vision you so clearly embedded into your mind and heart.
