Happy Monday!
In one of my training sessions with a group of secondary school students, I asked them a pertinent question. I asked them how many of them would love to “bail out” of Nigeria? Almost all of them without any hesitation said they wanted to. They all believed their lives would be much better if only they were in America or Europe. In fact, many of them were convinced they couldn’t aspire to greatness simply because they were born in Nigeria and lived in Nigeria. They were convinced the “game of life” had been rigged against them. These were young boys and girls getting their secondary school education in an affluent private secondary school. They thought it a a grievous mistake by God to have been born as Nigerians.
This mindset is not only found in secondary students. Neither is it peculiar to only Nigerians. Even in the desired countries of these young ones, for many the grass looks greener on the other side. Many walk the earth convinced their lot in life will automatically be better if only they were another skin color, if only they had another parent and hence a more “powerful” surname, if only they were another sex, if only ….(fill in the blank spaces).
Please permit me to ask you a question. Have you seen any tree running around so it can get what it needs to grow? No! Trees don’t have to run around. Where they are planted, all they need meet them there.
1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. Psalms 1:1-3 (NKJV, Emphasis Mine)
God doesn’t make mistakes. You are not a mistake! Opportunities exists everywhere on the face of the earth. You will flourish wherever He plants you. Locate yourself in the eternal creator and your fruit is sure.
Wish you a most fruitful week ahead. The land is green!
