Inkscape – Text Effects

Perspective Text Effect

  • Write a word with text
  • COnvert to a path by going to Object>Convert to Path
  • Ungroup the text – Object>UnGroup
  • Then go to Path>Union
  • Select the selection Tool – click twice on the text
  • Rotate the text up to be on a tilt
  • Get the Basia Pen & Draw a ‘slanted rectangle with the pen
  • The rectangle should be wide at one end i.e. Taller than text and then narrow at the other end:
  • Select the rectangle and drag it to the side
  • Select the text and the rectangle (hold shift to select both) and go to Extension>Modify Path>Perspective

Grey Gradient Effect

  • Duplicate your Text (which is white in this case) and color it grey
  • WIth the Basia Pen, draw a shape that cuts straight across the text:

  • Select both the shape and the gray text
  • Go to Path>Intersection
