I love, love, love the industrial look. Before I even moved to my new apartment, I knew that I wanted to build an industrial entertainment center. I got my inspiration from this entertainment center.
My dad helped me draw up plans and figure out what all I needed to complete this project. He mentioned that he hoped I lived close to a Home Depot or Lowes because I would be taking many trips in order to get it just right. I was all like, “nah, Dad, I’ve got plans!”
Lets just say that dads know best. It took me about six trips to get it right and luckily a Home Depot is about .25 miles from my apartment.
Unfortunately this is one of the only pictures I snapped before hand. Mostly because I got extremely frustrated that I kept having to go back. One thing that surpised me was that the pieces (found in plumbing) are not as cheap as you would think. I’ll give you a total cost at the end!
The poles pictured were 16” tall. That ended up being entirely too tall so I took them back and ago 12” pieces that were perfect. I spray painted them a nice oil rubbed bronze color.
I posted this picture on Instagram (follow me at hannahyoungandcrafty) and asked what you thought I was making. I got a headboard, bookshelf, and a rack to hang clothes. Those were all great ideas!
So basically, you need to figure out how many shelves you want. I wanted three. That will tell you how many poles you need. If you do three, you will need 12, 12” poles. Next you will need the joints. You will need 4 T joints and 2 elbow joints. The last thing, and most expensive, are the floor flanges. You will need 8 total of those. Lastly you will need whatever size boards you want to use. I knew I wanted mine to hang over a bit so I just measured and then got Home Depot to cut them to size. Then stain whatever color you want!
Trust me, it took 6 or so trips to finally get it right! Even if I had taken step by step directions, they would still be all over the place. Let’s just look at pretty pictures instead.

As far as some of the accessories go, here is where I got them. The globe with the wooden shoe is from Homegoods. The metal sphere is from TJ Maxx. The industrial bike sculpture is from Homegoods. Everything else is thrifted or was given to me.
