Indiana Blogs: Tulle and Trinkets

Why did you start Tulle and Trinkets?
I started Tulle and Trinkets a little over a year ago to document my daily style, my antiquing adventures, and my life as a newlywed. I’m a writer and editor and work in online marketing, so it was a natural fit for me to start my own blog!

What about that name? Why Tulle and Trinkets?
I knew when I started my blog that I wanted a big part of its focus to be on fashion and antiquing. I think tulle is a pretty fabric, and I love collecting little trinkets, so the name was born! Plus, I’m a big fan of alliteration.

What are three of your most favorite posts?
Oh, it’s hard to choose! I really love this outfit post from not too long ago. My husband and I took a walk down the Monon Trail right after the big post-Christmas snow. Everything was so still and beautiful, and we were the only people out and about.

This DIY Wildfox Couture post is an oldie, but a goodie. It’s such a fun craft project, and a lot of people have tried making their own, too!

I really love looking back at posts that document vacations or little weekend trips. I especially love the photos we took while in Metamora, Indiana this past summer. What a fantastic weekend that was!

What keeps you ready and raring to post? Why do you blog?
I truly love blogging. I’ll admit that there are some days when I just don’t feel like sitting down and writing, but most of the time I really enjoy it. My husband takes all of the outfit photos of me, so the blog has turned into a hobby for the two of us. We have a lot of fun with it!

I also love the friends I have met through my blog. I’ve met a lot of awesome bloggers and fellow fashion-lovers that I wouldn’t have gotten to know otherwise. They make it totally worth it.

Tulle and Trinkets is all about fashion! What are a few of your “can’t live without” items?
Well, emerald is Pantone’s color of 2013, so anything that gorgeous green hue is a must-have. Emerald also happens to be my birth stone, so you know I’ll be wearing it whenever I can. I also can’t live without riding boots, faux fur scarves, and big cozy sweaters.

Have you always enjoyed fashion or is this something you fell into recently?
I was never really into fashion until recent years. In high school, I was too busy running from soccer to track to piano lessons to the horse stable to be bothered by clothes too much. I became interested in fashion while I was in college.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
The ability to time travel!

Is there anything else that you would like little Indiana readers to know about you or your blog?
Indiana isn’t an obvious place for fashion, but Indianapolis has a great little fashion community that would surprise you. There is inspiration all over Indiana!

Inspired Indiana

Well, I certainly believe that! We Hoosiers take a lot of guff for our cornfields but there’s so much more to our state than that–including fashion. Thanks Sarah!
