Indiana Blogs: Mom for Less
Mom for Less is an Indiana blog that has grown from a blog about budgeting to a blog about life, parenting, and the little bumps along the way.Crystal’s original plan was to share money saving tips and strategies–until she felt the urge to share parenting and educational tips along with a recipe or two just to mix things up!
Whatever she’s blogging, you can be sure that anything on Mom 4 Less is funny, entertaining, and worth your time.
Indiana Blogs: Mom for Less
Why did you start Mom for Less?
I started Mom For Less in 2004 because I was bored and lonely while home on maternity leave. I was looking for a way to connect with other people without leaving the house! I’ve always loved to write, so blogging seemed to be a logical choice for me.
What about that name? Why Mom for Less?
I’ve always been frugal (ok, cheap), so I decided to blog about deals and frugal living. What I soon learned is that I don’t have the energy to keep up with that genre, and there are some other awesome bloggers out there covering this topic far better than I ever could. Mom For Less has grown into a site about life and parenting – things I’ve learned, places my family has enjoyed, and encouragement for other moms that they are not alone!

What keeps you ready and raring to post? Why do you blog?
Two things keep me motivated. The first is my love of writing. Writing is the easiest way for me to express myself, and I love sharing my life and my feelings with words. The second motivation for me is personal connections.
I love connecting with readers and other bloggers. When people thank me for something I’ve written, or tell me that my posts have made them laugh – well, there’s just nothing better.
What can people expect when they hop onto your blog?
Readers can expect to find the things I’ve learned raising my two boys – tips to make life easier, mistakes I’ve made, and what we’re going through right now. I also share my favorite places to spend family time in Indianapolis and Indiana. I am a proud Hoosier, and I love exploring my city and state with my family.
You like to save time and spend less: what’s your favorite tip for a hidden way to save?
The single biggest thing that has made a difference in our home is meal planning. I am not an extreme couponer, but by planning my meals around sales and coupons, I’ve cut our grocery bill considerably!
