Indiana Blogs Back Home Again

Indiana Blogs Back Home Again

Indiana blog Back Home Again chronicles the moving away and triumphant return of a Hoosier family.

A move took them to the East coast and had this blogger keeping extended family in tune by beginning a blog.

Happily, a job offer took them back home–and now the site serves as a personal blog, documenting every day life!

Indiana Blogs: Back Home Again

Why did you start Back Home Again?
I’ve actually been blogging since I was in college, with my LiveJournal account back in I believe 2003, but I originally started this blog, formerly known as Hoosier on the East Coast for our families and friends to keep up on what was going on in our lives when we lived outside Philadelphia in 2009.

What about that name? Why Back Home Again?
When we moved back to Indiana in 2011, I changed the name to Back Home Again. It’s a play on the song Back Home Again in Indiana because well, I really am back home again!

What are three of your most favorite posts?
Two of my most favorites are the birth stories of my children, Ewan and Cecily, because it’s well, their birth! Another post I really like documents my job because most people have no clue what I do.

What keeps you ready and raring to post? Why do you blog?
I like to write and I rarely get to do so, aside from technical writing for work. I love to be able to have a “voice” in my little corner of the interwebs.

What can people expect when they hop onto your blog?
All sorts of stuff. My blog is mainly about my thoughts on parenting and trying to be green, but I also throw a little bit of everything else in.

Since your blog was to originally document an East Coast move, what did you enjoy about the East Coast? What did you miss about Indiana?
Growing up in Northeast Indiana, I always wanted to move to the East Coast so when my husband was offered a job I was so excited to move. I love history and being in Philadelphia was a dream.

We were two hours from New York, Washington D.C. and the ocean and we were able to explore lots of different places while we were out there. However, I really missed my friends and family, who were all back in the Midwest so I was really excited to move back to my home state, even if not my hometown.

You’ve been on a weight loss journey. What are your favorite ways to get in shape?
I love to rollerblade, it’s probably my favorite form of exercise. I’ve also been attempting Couch to 5K and am aiming to run a 5K in the fall.

If you could have one superhero power, what would it be?
Organization. Before kids, I used to be so organized. Now I feel like everything is go go go and I rarely have a chance to breathe much less get everything together.

Is there anything else that you would like little Indiana readers to know about you or your blog?
I’ve lived in various cities within Indiana and I really am proud to be a Hoosier. Our state has a lot to offer if you know where to look!
