But even if veganism does require us to give up some of our favorite foods, beloved items of clothing, and cherished habits, does that question really matter? The institution of slavery and the treatment of sentient beings as 'things' - whether human or nonhuman - are inherently and gravely unjust. The changes that veganism requires of us, and the rewards that veganism brings, are irrelevant to the true moral question:

Ethics - Importance Of Philosophy

Moral relativism is the view that moral judgments are true or false only relative to some particular standpoint (for instance, that of a culture or a historical period) and that no standpoint is uniquely privileged over all others. It has often been associated with other claims about morality: notably, the thesis that different cultures often exhibit radically different moral values the denial that there are universal moral values shared by every human society and the insistence that we should refrain from passing moral judgments on beliefs and practices characteristic of cultures other than our own.

Workplace Values & Ethics

Ethics is also the study of questions about what is morally right or wrong. When ethics has this meaning, it is an uncount noun. You use a singular form of a verb with it.

Values - definition of values by The Free Dictionary

Some people might attempt to justify consumption of animal products for reasons of health. And yet, an increasing number of medical professionals are beginning to realize that not only are plant-based diets nutritionally complete, but they are actually more nourishing and far less toxic than their animal-based counterparts. In addition, the public is beginning to realize that many of the major dangers associated with diet - heart disease, cancer, stroke, obesity, diabetes, and many, many more - are exacerbated by the consumption of animal products, and can actually be avoided by adopting a vegan diet.

The first general feature is the tendency for each side to misunderstand the words and actions of the other. People from incommensurate traditions may have trouble communicating because they rely on different systems of meaning, norms of communication, and behavioral expectations.

These distinctions, according to Kant, allow us to resolve the &ldquo antinomy&rdquo about free will by interpreting the &ldquo thesis&rdquo that free will is possible as about noumena and the &ldquo antithesis&rdquo that every event has a cause as about phenomena. Morality thus presupposes that agents, in an incomprehensible &ldquo intelligible world,&rdquo are able to make things happen by their own free choices in a &ldquo sensible world&rdquo in which causal determinism is true.

In other words, the official position of the - very mainstream - ADA is that including animal products in one's diet is not only unnecessary, but can actually be harmful to our health.

Man for the field and woman for the hearth
for the sword, and for the needle she
Man with the head, and women with the heart
Man to command, and woman to obey
All else is confusion.

What about our other uses of animals? Leather, wool, silk, down, fur, toiletries, cosmetics, entertainment, sport, the vast majority of our experimentation - all of these are also clearly unnecessary under any coherent concept of the word "necessary", as there are vegan alternatives available for them all.

Second, it is not human beings per se but the &ldquo humanity&rdquo in human beings that we must treat as an end in itself. Our &ldquo humanity&rdquo is that collection of features that make us distinctively human, and these include capacities to engage in self-directed rational behavior and to adopt and pursue our own ends, and any other rational capacities necessarily connected with these. Thus, supposing that the taxi driver has freely exercised his rational capacities in pursuing his line of work, we make permissible use of these capacities as a means only if we behave in a way that he could, when exercising his rational capacities, consent to for instance, by paying an agreed on price.
