Scottsburg, Indiana is a miracle town in so many ways. Once on the brink, like far too many small towns, they were able to bounce back and thrive!
This small town is incredibly busy and bustling. The downtown shops are varied and wonderful and the local restaurants and cafes? Yes, those are fantastic too. Really, there's so many reasons why I love this town. Although Scottsburg has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state (two major industries shut down within a week of each other in 2008), town officials and area churches have been working hard to educate and lift up residents. You won't believe the kind of programs this town provides. I will certainly share those soon.
I've featured a few shops here and there on little Indiana. Now I'd like to take a step back to highlight the town! Lots of grand old buildings are dotted around the Scott County Courthouse square (another post on the way). You won't find big, ugly parking lots here, oh no! As Major William H. Graham says, "If parking is the worst problem you have, then you are doing something right!" This small town is certainly doing something right. Store fronts are filled, everyone takes advantage of their local businesses, and it looks great!
