Sure, you’ll miss out on the boat ride aboard the 19th century canal boat replica if you head over to Delphi, Indiana after the weather turns cold but the Wabash and Eerie Canal Interpretive Center is a great place to spend an afternoon rain, snow, or sun!
I just love this museum! There’s a lot of different elements to this one to make it a hit for adults and kids. Very large, wall-sized plaques tell the story of the Wabash and Eerie Canal in Carroll County (and beyond). Near them, you will often find a more hands-on approach to engage little minds with busy hands.
Puzzles, dress-up, touching and lifting canal equipment, taking quizzes–these bits of interaction really help make history real–for any age! History isn’t that boring class you took in high school. The real stuff, like what you’ll see here in Delphi, Indiana? Well, it’s real, and interesting, and relevant. Stop by a local history museum and discover the juicy secrets in your town’s past!
