Île de Ré is an island off the west coast of France near La Rochelle. It is 30 kilometres long and 5 kilometres wide.
The 2.9 km Île de Ré Bridge, which was completed in 1988, connects it to La Rochelle on the mainland.
When I was a kid, my parents used to drive there several times a year. Like any other island, the atmosphere is different there. You feel as though you were a tourist. The houses are beautiful!
