Pop-Night-13th of January 2019

As the best night of the largest student-organized cultural festival of India, everyone has their eyes on this night. With an audience of more than 8000, the Popular Night promises to be an absolute freak show. Saarang is proud to host the famous singers KK and Benny Dayal's band Funktuation this year after successful shows hosting Farhan Akhtar, Shaan, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Ravichandar in the previous editions. EDM Night

Adrima

As the largest college EDM event in South India. It has acclaimed liked of international artists such as DJs from Mars, Marnik and Aron Chupa, and Indian artists like Nucleya and Progressive Brothers.

This edition we are proud to host Maddix as our lead act along with Adrima as the supporting act. Maddix is a Dutch DJ and music producer. His songs are regularly played at the largest EDM festivals in the world, making him a key player in the Big Room and Progressive House. Rock Night

A heavenly night for the youngsters with a taste in Rock Music the rock night of Saarang is attended by people from all over the South. One of the few pure Rock Nights of the country we have hosted Viel of Maya, AGAM and Katatonia in the previous editions. Featured in Rolling Stones India's list of "25 Greatest Indian Rock Bands of the last 25 Years", Parikrama often blends classical Indian sounds of mridamgam, tabla, and flute, with the classic rock sounds of guitar, drums, and keyboard.

The second act this year is the definitive face of independent Indian rock in recent years, The Local Train. Beautiful lyrics, soulful solos, and thrilling guitar riffs guaranteed!

Choreo Night

    IIT Madras – Saarang 2019 The Lost Cities

The most awaited inter-college dance competition eagerly awaited by all the major colleges in the South, this pro-show is the best place for college students to showcase their dance talents and win exciting rewards. Classical Night

Classical Night is the inaugural event of Saarang every year. This is a free pro-show and receives a viewership of about 8000 people. Reputed performers from Indian Classical music and dance forms like M. Balamuralikrishna, Pt. Birju Maharaj, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan have marked their presence at this event.

Mehak Mirza Prabhu- Mehak Mirza Prabhu is a storyteller and writer from Mumbai, who creates fiction in multiple languages. Audio storytelling through voice modulations is one of her unique strengths. Also a blogger, scriptwriter and social enthusiast, she runs an online storytelling school called 'Jhumritaliaya', dedicated to merging classic storytelling form with original stories that reflect recent times. Once an entrepreneur, she is now a full-time writer-storyteller, voice-over artist, performer, and mentor.

Ashwin Sanghi- Ashwin Sanghi is an Indian writer in the fiction-thriller genre. He is the author of four best-selling novels: The Rozabal Line, Chanakya's Chant, The Krishna Key, and The Sialkot Saga. Known as India's answer to Dan Brown, all his books are based on and explore historical, theological and mythological themes.

Anuj Tiwari- Anuj Tiwari is an emerging Indian author, who has written four novels. His first work, Journey of Two Hearts, was published by Srishti Publishers in 2012. He is the recipient of the Newspapers Association of India Achiever Awards 2014, which named him as the "Best Upcoming Novelist ".

Prajakta Koli- Prajakta Koli is an Indian YouTube personality and video blogger. She is popularly known by her YouTube name 'Mostly Sane'. Since starting her YouTube channel in February 2015, she has received 3 million subscribers. In May 2018, Prajakta was announced as the Indian Ambassador for YouTube's global initiative, 'Creators For Change', which deals with problems like hate speech, xenophobia and extremism.

Ratna Pathak- Ratna Pathak Shah is an Indian actress and director best known for her work in theatre, television, and Bollywood. She has been part of numerous plays both in Hindi and English. Her recent Bollywood films include 'Lipstick Under My Burkha', 'Kapoor and Sons' and 'Khoobsurat'. She is widely acknowledged by critics and audience alike for her powerful presence both on and off screen.

Janet Vidhi- Janet Vidhi is a professional squash player from India. She has been representing India at the World Squash Tour since 2014 and has played tournaments in several countries all over the world, traveling solo and managing everything by herself, resulting in a career-best world ranking of 88 till now. She is only the 9th Indian woman in history to break into the top 100 of squash world rankings. In 2018 she won the "young sports achiever" award at the ASEAN-INDIA Youth Awards.

Shipra Khanna- Masterchef Shipra Khanna is recognized as one of the top Indian celebrity chefs. She has been working extensively in India and across the globe. Winner of Master Chef India 2, Chef Shipra's specialties are global cuisine, Indian, baking, desserts and fusion food. She is a restaurateur, chef, consultant, author and television anchor. She has been awarded "Women Chef taking taste beyond borders" by SAARC.

Anu Aggarwal- Anu Aggarwal is a former actress and model. She rose to fame after playing the lead in the 1990 Bollywood hit 'Aashiqui'. She has appeared in other movies such as 'The Cloud Door', 'King Uncle' and 'Thiruda Thiruda'. After going through a fatal accident and recovering in 1999, she quit her acting career and now practices Yoga at the Bihar School of Yoga. She is also an amateur powerlifter, having won many powerlifting competitions. Hers is an inspiring story of recovery post a life-altering accident and how she made it her greatest strength.

S. Sowmya- Vidushi S. Sowmya is one of the leading exponents of the Carnatic tradition of Indian classical music. She is reputed for her deeply classical style and for her large repertoire spanning a wide spectrum of composers, including some of the rarest works of the Carnatic Trinity. She is also a passionate promoter and practitioner of Tamizh Isai - the ancient classical and folk music traditions of Tamil Nadu. Dr. Sowmya is also a fine exponent of the Saraswati Vina, one of the world's oldest musical instruments. She is known for her path-breaking research work in enhancing the tonal stability of the mridangam, the pre-eminent percussion instrument in South Indian music.
