After a long period of resolutely "getting on with things", it can be difficult to re-learn how to let yourself create. This "getting on" is definitely not a bad thing. You put on blinders to whatever dazzling beauty and dizzying horrors are around you, so that you can move forward undistracted. As we hurtle on through life so relentlessly, constantly ripping ourselves fresh wounds under the acid rain that falls from the sky, we forget what it ever felt like to be still. Until one day, there comes a quiet, peaceful softness. A merciful absence of feeling. You hear a hush inside your mind, and the blinders aren't as necessary any more. Whatever it was you were running through has cleared, and it is time to pick the little diamonds out of your wounds before they heal.
