Asked to explain his statement that there was literally nothing Donald Trump could do to lose his support, Jerry Falwell Jr. shared his twisted theory of two kingdoms.
“There’s the earthly kingdom and the heavenly kingdom,” Falwell explained. “In the heavenly kingdom the responsibility is to treat others as you’d like to be treated. In the earthly kingdom, the responsibility is to choose leaders who will do what’s best for your country.”
The clear implication is that Jesus ethics would be a disaster for the country. In a recent opinion piece for Baptist News Global I posed the obvious question:
So, if the ethics of Jesus are such an embarrassment, why does Jerry Jr. persist in calling himself a Christian?
