French-Italian electronic duo Ideini explore the hills and valleys of human existence on their second EP Shaping the Void. Theo Duplus and Francesca Martino are trying to find the missing pieces of the puzzle in a quest to make sense of it all. The subtle Second State sums up their predicament quite nicely: "Through the path I forgot where I was // It is time to admit I have lied to myself // How did I get here?"
Doubt and anxiety can be crippling, as the pair tries to keep their demons at bay in a haze of trip-hop and a sometimes surprisingly rough back beat. They rely on each other to compete against the odds, but even Holding Us does not provide the safety of a Hollywood ending.
