The world’s greatest detective grapples with his past and his own fame in the latest trailer for director Bill Condon’s “Mr. Holmes.”
Ian McKellen stars in the adaptation of Mitch Cullin’s novel “A Slight Trick of the Mind” as an aging Sherlock Holmes, now living in relative anonymity in a remote farmhouse with only his housekeeper and her young son for company. Frustrated with the misrepresentation of him in John Watson’s bestselling novels, Holmes focuses his attention on an unsolved case that led to his retirement three decades earlier.
Opening July 17, “Mr. Holmes” also stars Laura Linney, Frances de la Tour and Milo Parker.
