I’m so excited to announce that the blog was nominated for a Liebster Blog Award! I’ve never been nominated for anything in my life, this seems like an Emmy Award to me! Molly, over at In a Nutshell Nutrition, nominated the blog and she completely made my day when she did.
Make sure to stop over and say hi to Molly. She’s a certified personal trainer and currently in school for holistic nutrition, an avid Crossfitter, and a runner. Her blog chronicles her life of health, her nutrition studies and fitness. I’ve known Molly since our freshman year of college (to read more check out her Friendly Feature!), and she’s just an amazing person. She’s my health and fitness guru, and she’s been helping me along with my journey to health. Even if you’re not looking for nutrition advice or personal training, check out her blog and send her a message. She’s sweet, funny, caring, passionate, loyal, and gives some of the best tough love around (when you need it of course!) So thank you Molly for everything!
So, since I’ve never been nominated for a Liebster Award before I had to look around for the criteria. From what I have found, essentially, a blogger nominates a blogger who has 200 or less followers. The idea is to help blog’s readership grow, and also give the smaller blogs a nice little pat on the back!
Once you’ve been nominated, the person who nominates you gives you 10 questions to answer, then you find 10 blogs (or so) to nominate and create 10 questions for them to answer. It’s pretty awesome!
So here we go – time for the 10 Questions!
1. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
What didn’t I want to be when I was growing up is a better question. Let’s see, it started with a veterinarian, followed by a singer, a writer, a pediatrician (I was convinced of this until about sophomore year of high school when I discovered just how long I would be in school for! Also… I hate blood.), a teacher and a famous journalist for a magazine (specifically Cosmopolitan – I just really wanted to be Carrie Bradshaw!) Thankfully, after 6 years of school, I realized that Marketing was the right field for me and I’m now happily in a dream position!
Source2. What is one thing you have on your bucket list that you have yet to complete?
Write and a publish a novel. I have a lot on my bucket list (maybe someday I’ll write it all down!) but I’ve said for years that I wanted to write and publish a novel. Thankfully, I did write one. I started it when I was 19 and just finished the first draft last year. I need to find the time to really sit down with it and give a good editing and update anything in it that wouldn’t make sense now, but at least it’s written. I’ll probably end up self-publishing it. I said I would do it by the time I was 25… and now I’m aiming for 30. Gives me another 2 years
3. If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you do with the cash?
Oh jeez. The fiance and I talk about this ALL the time.
What would I really like to do?
Buy an island and live on it. And buy a private plane so I can go from said island to anywhere I want anytime. And buy tons of horses. And rescue a lot of dogs. I’d rescue a lot of cats too, but the fiance is allergic.
What would I actually do?
The first thing we would do would be to pay any debt off; student loans, cars, credit cards, etc. We would probably then buy a house. Not something over the top, but something really nice, in cash or at least mostly with a small mortgage payment (I know we’d just won the lottery, but good credit is a good thing to maintain!). We would probably then buy new cars, pay off our parents’ mortgages, and then buy a vacation home somewhere.
And then I would definitely buy a few horses. And buy a few I mean I’d buy a rescue Saddlebred, another rescue horse, and then probably a show horse or two (or 10). And rescue dogs.
Clearly if we won the lottery, I’d buy horses and rescue dogs either way.
Source4. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Well, this started out as a way to express my creativity again. And it’s just evolved. I really love the support and community feel of it. There are thousands of bloggers out there, and yet in my little corner of cyberspace, it amazes me how many people actually read it and enjoy it. I love the little communities and ambassadorships you can get involved with. I just love everything about it. I’ve met some of the coolest, most interesting and caring people through blogging (even if it’s just through their blogs, Twitter and Instagram!) and I can’t wait to keep diving in headfirst and learning more!
5. What is one social media outlet (besides your blog) that you’re always using?
Instagram. Hands down. I’m a photographer, when I’m not at work/blogging/riding horses/spending time with my family, so Instagram is easily my favorite place to connect. I’ve always been super visual so being able to show my life in pictures is awesome. Be prepared for a lot of photos of the sky, horses, and flowers. Also – things in mason jars. I have a slight obsession with mason jars.
6. If you could live anywhere, where would you live?
I don’t think I’ve ever had one place that I’ve been like ‘Yep! I want to live here.’ Places I would love to live? San Diego, San Francisco, Gulf Coast of Florida, South Carolina…. essentially anywhere that I can be near a body of water… I’m golden.
7. Dinner with a celebrity – dead or alive. Who is it?
Alive – Jessica Alba or Jennifer Lawrence. Dead – Marilyn Monroe or Kathryn Hepburn.
8. What is your favorite part of your job?
Pretty much everything. I work with books and authors. I promote new books. I get to read books. I get to write about books. I get to make all things books my job. I love my job. Next question.
9. What is your favorite food?
Yeah… this one is always tough for me. I’ve never had just one favorite food. I love a diverse amount of foods. Black Olive Pizza, Buffalo Chicken calzones, Grilled Buffalo Chicken Salads, Salads in general, pretty much any fruit and vegetable you put in front of me (except beets or onions…. Blegh!), Thanksgiving dinner, corned beef, chili… yeah, I’m not picky.
10. What do you never leave your house without?
My iPhone. I’d be so lost with out it. Plus, I’d totally miss out on so many Instagram-worthy moments.
Alright friends. Since I’m a bit late to the Liebster Award Game, we’re going to do things a little bit differently here. If you’re interested in being nominated and have 200 followers or less to your blog, leave me a message in the comments with your name and blog! I’ll write a post next week with my Liebster nominees and your questions!
