Opening for a major act like Blake Shelton seems like it could be a little intimidating – but if that’s the case, Hunter Hayes didn’t show it.
He was humble and gracious and thankful for the crowd that was already at least 20,000 strong to see him perform as the sun went down on a great Sunday at Boots & Hearts 2014, and the audience showed him just how big of a star he is, and is going to be throughout his set.

Note: This kid can play. Yes, he’s a great singer who is engaged with the crowd. But man can he play his guitars. On both the acoustic and at least 3 electric guitars he showed his skill and played hard, loud and really, really well.

The last 6 songs of the set had the crowd All-In with Everybody’s Got Somebody But Me, a cover of One Republic’s Counting Stars, Storm Warning, Wanted (which was amazing with just a piano and the crowd singing along), Light Me Up, and a big finale with I Want Crazy.
Hunter Hayes is a young man with a bright future. He’s come a long way from playing a tiny accordion on stage with Hank Williams Jr. when he was 4… the stage is all his now – and it will be for a long time to come.
Thanks to Trish for the pics of Hunter, check out more from Boots & Hearts HERE!
Work Hard. Play Harder. Be Awesome.
