Maybe you've heard about microneedle patches recently. They are the new trend in the skincare right now. Before they became a huge thing, Dr. Jart already had them called Focuspot Micro Tip Patches. They revamped it last April, way before they announced the revamp of their cult-fave Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream and its Color Correcting Treatment with SPF 30. And just like the Cicapair line, they did not only revamped it, they also added more in the line! Luckily, Dr. Jart+ sent me a PR Kit, so I was able to try the entire line. Below is my complete Dr. Jart+ Focuspot Patch review.
WHAT ARE THEY?
Dr. Jart+ Focuspot Micro Tip Patches is a set of self-dissolving micro tips that melt deep into the skin surface to target stubborn blemishes, dark spots, dark circles, and fines lines and wrinkles.
Inspired by micro-needling procedures, Focuspot's innovative adhesive patches contain small micro tips made of hyaluronic acid that melt in contact with the skin. As they self-dissolve, they deliver actives deep into the skin surface to target and treat stubborn concerns-without the pain and recovery like similar in-office procedures. In just two hours, hydrating hyaluronic acid and nourishing vitamins work to help visibly improve the look of blemishes, dark spots, dark circles, and fines lines and wrinkles, both instantly and long-term. These are 100 percent safe and clinical test claims that you'll see visible results within two weeks.
All these patches are suitable for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin. They are all free of sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehyde, mineral oil, and triclosan.
For Acne & Blemishes
Dr. Jart+ Focuspot Blemish Micro Tip Patch
It contains Hyaluronic Acid 65% and Vitamin B3 to prevent pigmentation and help to reduce breakouts. It also contains Niacinamide which is a known brightening and anti-aging ingredient. One pack contains 6 patches.
PERFORMANCE - It didn't sting my acne but unlike other acne patches I tried in the past, I really felt the microneedles on this one and the adhesive is really strong. It won't budge or drop when you sweat.
RESULT: It didn't really flatten my acne after using this. It didn't also help it heal faster after two consecutive uses. I find the Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream works way better than this one.
VERDICT: Skip it! Get a spot cream instead.
For Dark Spots
Dr. Jart Focuspot Dark Spot Micro Tip Patch
This one also contains Hyaluronic Acid 65%, but this time with Vitamin C, specifically, Ascorbic Acid to fade dark spots and give antioxidant benefit to the skin. And just like the Blemish Patch above, this also contains Niacinamide. One pack of this also contains 6 patches.
PERFORMANCE: This one has thicker tips than the blemish patch. Obviously, I really felt those micro tips entering my skin but I didn't feel any pain.
RESULT: I did see my dark spot lightened a little after using this one, but you'll only get 6 patches in one pack which I find too little if you have more dark spots in your face.
VERDICT: Skipping this one too. I prefer Vitamin C serums.
For Undereye Dark Circles
Dr. Jart+ Foccuspot Dark Circle Micro Tip Patch
This one contains Hyaluronic Acid 72% (a little higher than those above) and Vitamin A which is Retinyl Palmitate to help to improve microcirculation underneath the skin and reduce dark circles. And again, this also contains niacinamide. One pack contains 4 patches, good for two uses only.
THOUGHTS: The micro tips here are not really pointy, but they're really yellow, almost orange. You really have to make sure you stick it right because the adhesive is quite strong. But don't stick it too near to your lash line. It'll definitely pluck them. After I removed it, a yellow tint was left in my undereye area. I was a little shock, I thought I have to wash them off. But luckily, I didn't. Because the next morning, my undereyes were brighter!
VERDICT: Try it! I highly recommend using this a night before a big day.
For Wrinkles
Dr. Jart+ Line & Wrinkle Micro Tip Patches
This one contains Hyaluronic Acid 63% which has the lowest among the 4, and Vitamin E to improve skin elasticity. But unlike all the patches above, this is the only one that doesn't contain Niacinamide. Instead, the anti-ingredients here are Adenosine, Citric Acid, and Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E).
THOUGHTS: I don't really know what to say to this one. I'm only on my mid-twenties, I don't have wrinkles yet. But I do see my cheeks look a little plumper after using this one.
VERDICT: I recommend this one to those in their twenties to keep their skin plump.
THE WINNER
That was my undereye before and after I used the Focuspot Dark Circle Micro Tip Patch. As mentioned above, I was worried the yellow tint but I guess, it was the one that helped brightened my undereyes the next morning (bottom photo). But if you're curious what my face looks like after using all these Dr. Jart+ patches all at once...
...well, this was my face. I tried to smile but I can't. It's too stiff! But there's one thing that bothered me the most after using all these patches. And it was the trash. Each patch has 3 packaging each. I find it too much.
Too many, right?
