I Am A Mother And I Am A Fashionista

By Demi Mist @Beautyandmist

Being a mom is probably the biggest joy a woman can experience, yet many women are told to sacrifice all their other hobbies and preferences in favour of raising children, which is what many of us do, thinking that it's something we must do if we want to be considered good mothers. We're so busy that we forget what it's like to have some time for ourselves where we're free from all the obligations that motherhood entails. Well, I am a bit different - I still do all the above-mentioned things. I love my child fiercely, but in order to feel truly fulfilled, I need to have some me-time that will let me rest and enjoy what makes me happy: shopping and wearing clothes that I love. Yes, I am a mother and a fashionista, so if you see yourself as a fashion lover, here's how you can be a dedicated mother and into fashion at the same time:

1. Wear what you love

Just because you're a mom, that doesn't mean you shouldn't wear what you love. Sometimes, I like to take my kid for a stroll in the park while wearing my favourite sequined boots, or a mini dress. Being a parent can be exhausting at times, so I enjoy feeling sexy and look stylish whenever I get the chance, but I also make sure that I'm always dressed appropriately for the occasion. Therefore, parenthood is no reason to give up on your favourite clothes - wear what you like and what makes you feel good in your own skin!

2. Like mother, like daughter (or son)

Motherhood is a great opportunity to rediscover your inner child while watching your own kid grow. That's why I hopped on a new fashion trend: matching outfits with my daughter. Of course, I make sure that my outfits are age-appropriate. I usually focus on the same or similar colours and patterns, because I'd never let my daughter wear something that'll make her feel uncomfortable just to appease my fashion appetites. Also, for those of you who have sons, you can still match your outfits by opting for more neutral clothes such as tracksuits, hoodies and sneakers.

3. You can still go shopping

Children can be demanding, anyone who is a parent knows this, so due to home chores and other obligations, moms often have no or very little time to shop for new clothes. Shopping for clothes takes time, and moms like me often have little time on our hands to go from one shop to another in hope to find something that fits. But that doesn't mean there's no solution - if you feel too busy to go to the mall, you can always shop from an exclusive online fashion store where you can find great dresses and other high-quality pieces of clothes That's why I prefer to shop for clothes from the Internet: I wait for my daughter to fall asleep, then I pour myself a glass of rose and get lost in the world of online shopping.

4. Always dress up

Every fashionista will tell you that dressing up is important for her. It lets her express herself by wearing her favourite clothes, and experiment with different styles. Changing outfits and discovering new trends can sometimes make me feel very motivated and full of energy. I am especially happy when I'm able to match the perfect outfit from a get-go: I automatically feel better about my day. If I feel like I'm too busy to plan outfits in the morning, I make sure to do it the night before, so I'll be able to dedicate my time to my daughter and prepare her breakfast in peace. So, being dressed up can definitely uplift your mood, but always make sure to do finish all your tasks related to home and kids beforehand, that's what I do, as then I'm able to dress up without being interrupted.

In conclusion, being a mother and fashionista is perfectly doable, you just need to find a way to incorporate your love for fashion into your daily life, or even better, include your kid into shopping and dressing up, as that can be a great way for you to bond and enjoy each other's company.
