A 66 year old man was killed Monday evening after being involved in a semi-truck accident on Interstate 270 at the Riverview Drive Exit.
Police said the victim was in a black Hyundai Sonata on I-270 when he was struck in the back by a semi-truck. Police also said that a Chevy Impala then struck the back of the Hyundai which caused the victim to be trapped. The victim was eventually freed and transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead at the scene. No information was given at the time of this article to know the causes of the truck accident involving the semi-truck and the two cars.
This auto accident is yet another accident and fatality on our greater St. Louis interstates. Certainly, the family and friends of this 66 year old man do not consider him to be a statistic as I do not either. Each injured person or family member of a highway fatality has a unique story. Daily, I get the opportunity to know new clients and I have the honor of getting to learn their stories. When a family member has been killed such as in the tragic accident above, I get to know who that person was through their family and friends.
Investigators and accident reconstruction experts will need to be called upon to examine the phsycial evidence as well as the victim’s injuries to make determinations. Good investigators thoroughly interview witnesses as well. In the article that I read, it did not indicate the accident was under investigation………..it is an assumption. However, if I were the famly of the man killed or other participants in the accident, I would want to be certain an investigation was occurring. One way to do that is to consult a personal injury attorney right away.
Getting to know someone’s story is more than just the need to satisfy my curiosity that I am representing a “good person”, it is rewarding. When people share with you, you grow—there is no way to avoid it. Of course, a “good person” is a relative term and subject to each of our own definitions, but honestly, have you ever met a person you could not find some good in? Not likely. When I meet clients, it is because of a life changing accident that has either seriously injured them or a family member or they have lost a family member. It is interesting to me how so many people rise above everyday standards in the worst or most challenging part of their lives. I’m honored to witness the action/growth of my clients daily and daily; they teach me new things about myself.
