If you have been keeping up with the fashion trends, you know that the full midi skirt is making a comeback. It's a feminine, demure and modest style that can look really elegant. It also has a lot of dressing issues that can make it tricky to wear. Before you consider this skirt to be the answer to all your style problems, take a look at some figure flattering ways to wear to the full midi skirt with the outfits below.

When wearing a full midi skirt, it's important to shape the waist. You definitely want to hone up on those tucking skills because you'll be using them. You don't have to wear a super tight top, even tucking in a button down shirt will do. You can try a crisp white shirt or even a more casual chambray shirt, like I did in the outfit above using this style from J. Crew that I paired with this full midi skirt from Banana Republic. The outfit is finished with a pair of yellow strappy heeled sandals from Nordstrom, a bib necklace from Bauble Bar, bangle bracelets and white wristlet from MICHAEL Michael Kors.

In addition to keeping the waist shaped when wearing full midi skirts, like I did here using this bodysuit crew neck top styled with this skirt from Boden, the shoes you choose are equally important. Unless you have super slim legs and are on the taller side, flats can look really bad with this skirt shape. Your legs can look heavy and the fullness of the skirt can make you look squat. Even if it a small heel, it's a better option.

The good news is that you don't have to teeter around in stilettos, a pair of espadrilles, low heeled sandals or wedges, like the pair above from Via Spiga, should work. If your legs are heavy, you might want to try a pair of shoes that match closely to your skin tone, as well, which will also help slim your legs and make them look longer.

The rest of the outfit is finished with a pendant necklace from Panacea and soft blue saddle bag.

In addition to making sure you are wearing shoes that are flattering for full midi skirts, it's also important to make sure the hems of these styles don't land at the widest part of your calves. This can be disastrous in making your legs look huge, especially considering that even a half inch hem can make a difference. Remember, these skirts are designed for women of varying heights, so don't get upset if you need to take yours to the tailor. The ideal length is right below the knee, right before your calves begin to widen.

In this last outfit, I styled this full midi skirt from J. Crew a cropped cardigan from LOFT layered over a white tank from Nic + Zoe. If you don't want to tuck in your tops, a shorter or cropped knit will also work. You just want to make sure these tops have shape and aren't too boxy. the outfit is finished with a printed pair of pumps from Jessica Simpson, chandelier earrings from Julie Vos and a blue handbag from Chloé.

Full midi skirts can be a refreshing alternative to your wardrobe this spring and summer. Be mindful of the best ways to style them for your body so you can look super stylish in them this season.
