Ever have catchers specifically do a drill that just requires them to throw the ball back to the pitcher correctly? Probably not. That’s because we just assume they should just know how to do it.
Most older kids just figure out how to get the ball back on their own through trial & error and what just feels right. Younger catchers who are just starting out need a bit more guidance. It doesn’t require a lot of work but a little bit of instruction can go a long way. If catchers are going to do this upwards of 100 times a game, I think it’s worth the time.
