Just like Kylie Lip Kits, another popular matte liquid lipstick brand has a bunch of knock off. Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips is one of the most affordable liquid lipsticks in the market that are highly pigmented and last almost all day just like it’s expensive counterpart. Yet, unfortunately, a bunch of knock offs that cost around $1-2 are still being produced and sold in online markets because Colourpop is based in the US and shipping fee is quite expensive. So how to spot a fake Colourpop ultra matte lips?
But first, I have to mention that spotting a fake Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips is not as easy as spotting fake Kylie Lip Kits due to their simple packaging. So even though my tips may help you, you still have to be very vigilant. As much as possible try to buy it directly from Colourpop.com. If you live outside of the US, wait for their promos, like right now they have free international shipping on orders above $60 until December 31, 2o16. Or buy from re-sellers you can trust. If you live in the Philippines, you can buy authentic Colourpop products in Beauty MNL.

1. The Price
Authentic Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips cost $6. If they sell it for less than that then it’s FAKE. And please don’t believe the “it was ordered directly from the manufacturer or distributor” crap because it’s bullsh*t! Don’t also believe the “class A” or “Singapore Authentic” craps because it’s just a term for high class knock off.
1. Check the Holographic Label
Unfortunately for us, unlike the knock off Kylie Lip Kits, the fake Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips are hard to spot immediately. For starters, Colourpop has a generic liquid lipstick bottle. An empty silver capped liquid lipstick bottles like those in Colourpop are very easy to buy in sites like eBay. But when you buy in a store other than Colourpop.com make sure you thoroughly check the label. The font on the original Colourpop products are holographic, meaning they’re silver but when you move it there are colors appearing.
2. Check the Shade Online Before Buying
Keep a picture of the shade you want and compare it. But this tip only works if you’re buying it on a brick and mortar store, not online. But if you already bought one and your in doubt, check the shade online. Just like Miss Nicki below.
3. It Should Be Matte Finish
This is the most obvious, but still some people forget or not aware for some reason. Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips have matte finish, really drying and non-sticky. If it it glossy or sticky or both, then it’s either not an Ultra Matte or you bought a fake.
