What Is CCPA?
CCPA stands for California Consumer Privacy Act. The law is in effect from January 1, 2020. And you might want to strictly follow it from July1, 2020. The idea is pretty simple. The user needs to know what information you collect, how will you use it, and with whom you’ll share it.
The law is for improving the privacy of residents of California. A few rights that are added under CCPA are:

Etc.
While your business gross is $25 million or higher, you might want to consider making the tracking CCPA compliant. Also, if you earn 50% of your income via selling consumer’s information, you might want to comply with the law.

How To Make Your Google Analytics CCPA Compliant?
Now, let’s see how we can make Google Analytics CCPA compliant.
The very first thing you need to do is, purchase the premium version of MonsterInsights. As of August 2020, there are 3 premium pricing plans available.

According to the features you wanted, you can choose a plan. The Plus plan comes with all the basic features we need. Higher plans will give you more advanced and unique features.

Once you have purchased the premium version, log in to your MonsterInsights account, download the premium plugin files.
Log in to your WordPress blog, install the premium version plugin. On your MonsterInsights dashboard, you could see a license key too. You will need to verify the license key. Once you have done that, you will get access to all the premium add-ons, support, and plugin updates.
Make sure that you have authenticated your Google Analytics property with MonsterInsights. After that, the plugin will show you all the reports right on your WordPress dashboard.
The very next thing you need to do is, install, and activate the EU Compliance add-on on your blog.
Once you have got installed the plugin, it will get activated automatically. If it doesn’t, activate the add-on manually. After that, you could see the add-ons’ settings under the Engagement settings.
From that page, you can enable/ disable the tracking features you want.
Make sure that you have enabled the EU Compliance tracking before moving further. The plugin will allow you to enable/ disable tracking features like:
- Anonymous IP address.
- Demographic and Interest reports.
- UserID tracking.
- Author tracking.
Etc.
Plus, you can always integrate the service with third-party plugins like CookieBot and Cookie Notice. After configuring these settings, you have done the MonsterInsights part.
For providing better information about how you handle the user’s data, you could have updated your privacy policy page and add a cookie consent box inside your blog.
For the cookie consent box, you could use the Cookie Notice plugin. This is a free WordPress plugin that will give you complete control. After configuring the plugin on your site, you can show the consent box on the website’s frontend.
As you can see in the image, you can let the website visitors know about you are using cookies for improving your business/ website traffic. The Cookie Notice plugin is 100% customizable.
And every website needs a privacy policy page. And for making Google Analytics comply with CCPA, you might want to edit it a bit – all you need to do is, add which cookies are you using.
