Happy Beauty Wednesday! One of my fave things to do during the summer is to switch up my look including my style, makeup and hair. There are so many fun and cool ways to switch up your style. Keep reading to see how you can maintain your hair during the summer.
Get a summer cut
During the summer if you have thick hair you can expect frizz. This occurs when your hair is dead or dry. If possible go to a hair salon and ask him/her to thin out your hair a little. Also remember to trim your hair because split ends can also trigger frizz.
Take care of your hair while swimming
When you are at the beach and decide to take a dive in the water throw your locks into a ponytail. Be prepared and keep ponytail holders and clips on hand. Limit your time in the pool because it can wreak havoc on your hair and wash your hair thoroughly after swimming.
Use hair care products with UV protection
The summer heat tends to leave pores of the skin and scalp open so it is important to use a shampoo and conditioner with added UV protection.
Wear a hat or scarf
Opt for a hat or scarf because it adds further UV protection and it helps the hair retain moisture. Hair scarfs also act as damage control for the hair. They also keep your hair in place at the beach or where ever else you may go in the summer.
Wear your hair in braids or an up-do
It’s best to wear your hair in a stylish braid or up-do during the summer heat and humidity, these hairstyles will help with UV exposure and add another layer of protection for the scalp.
Deep conditioning treatments
Summer hair problems like dryness and split ends can be treated with deep conditioning treatments. Be sure to add this to your summer hair routine. Before purchasing any products determine your hair texture and type.
