Every time you get a significant amount of your hair cut off, inevitably, you want to immediately grow it out so long that it looks like a My Little Pony. Well, it takes time. Here are some tips to help you grow out your hair gracefully. It won’t grow faster, but it will look fabulous every step of the way while you are waiting.
1. Get trims regularly. This won’t exactly cause the hair to grow more quickly, but it will look thicker and won’t set you back by encouraging split-end multiplication.
2. Don’t wash your hair everyday
3. Be reasonable with your expectations. 1/2 inch is the average length a person’s hair grows each month. Some people have hair that is extra luscious and can grow super long. Others naturally have thinner hair that may not be capable of growing healthily past their shoulder.
4. Eat properly. A diet filled with protein, good fats and vitamins is a key foundation for good hair. Without this, problems are more likely to arise.
5. Consider taking a prenatal supplement. This helps hair look shiny and fuller in some cases.
6. Talk to your stylist to assist you in determining the most flattering hairstyle for you. This may be a short look, that’s ok. You want to look fabulous not desperate to have long stringy unhealthy-looking hair.
7. Don’t over-color or over-process your hair. This may damage your hair and negatively affect your goal to grow out your hair.
8. Don’t damage your hair by too much of the following:
- teasing
- flat-ironing
- curling iron
- ponytails that are too tight
- naughty bobby pin use
- overzealous blowdrying
Happy hair days ahead.
