Summer is here whether, we (I!) like it not and if you happen to live in hot and humid areas, looking cute and comfortable at the same time is going to be a struggle. Below are some of the guidelines I follow while dressing for work and yet looking professional without sweating down my spine.
Natural fabrics
Avoid synthetic fabrics at all costs; they'll cling and stick and make you miserable. More here.Loose fitting clothes
Stick to shapes that fall away from the body. The less fabric touching your skin, the cooler you'll feel.Choose soft colors
It helps to avoid dark colors when it's blazing hot outside. Think like the Navy and invest in some 'summer whites.' As you might have noticed from my previous posts, fit-and-flare dresses with colorful ballet flats or sandals are my go-to summer look for work. Prints are also great at hiding sweat marks.Pay attention to footwear
Heat escapes through our heads and our feet, so opt for open toes footwear. My favorite are chic sandals.[Related: What Is Workplace-Appropriate Dressing For Summertime?] Work Wear Wardrobe - XIV
