SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, most of you must know about it. But there are many newbie’s who doesn’t. Specific techniques which we use to high the rank of our web pages in different search engines including Google/Bing etc. is known as SEO.
We can categorize it into; On-Page SEO & Off-Page SEO. On-Page SEO means anything we do at the pages of our website, including page titles, Meta tags, description, internal linking etc.
Off-Page SEO means anything we do on other websites to increase our website rank, including forum posting, blog posting, social engagement & marketing etc.
Here I am sharing some On-Page SEO techniques to increase your website rank in search engines.
On-Page SEO techniques
Page Titles:
Page titles are very important as to the SEO; you should keep unique page titles for all your website pages including the targeted keywords.
Example: If we write a post about Shoes so we can use “Best Shoes” or “Affordable Shoes” keywords in our title.
Meta Description:
Never forget to add the Meta description with relevant keywords at your page. Search result shows these descriptions.
Meta Tags:
Meta Tags are as important as your Meta description. Add related keywords in your Meta tags. You can use “All in one SEO” plug-in for wordpress to add the page titles, Meta description and Meta tags.
Use different headings:
You should use different heading tags in your posts or web pages including H1, H2, H3, H4, and H5. Normally H1 tags are used for the main headings and other tags are reserved for different small headings. It helps search engine about the important and main content of your page.
Image Alt text:
If you are using images in your content don’t forget to add the image titles and Alt text. It helps search engines to know about the images and index these images as to the Alt text. This increases the visibility of your website in search engines.
Targeted & Short URLs:
Short URLs are good as to SEO. Try to use important keywords in your URL and keep URLs short.
Internal Linking & use of keywords:
Use internal linking techniques to enhance your web page visibility. You can link your different pages in your posts. It engages your visitors in the website as well as helps web crawlers to crawl all your website pages.
You should use relevant keywords in your content, up to 5%. Excessive use can harm your site.
Content Links:
Content links are bit similar to internal linking. It is very helpful to drive your traffic on other posts and pages of your website. You can create the links of related content within your posts.
