How to Choose the Right Shower

Trying to find the right shower for your home these days really isn’t as simple as it used to be. There are so many options available now that making the right choice can seem like a gamble. In order to choose the best shower for your home, there are a number of things you should think about.

Type of shower

The first thing you need to think about is what type of shower you need. The water pressure in the home is one thing that will determine which shower you should opt for. Do you want a standard mixer shower, a thermostatic shower or a shower tower?

Water supply

Think about the type of hot water supply you own – if it’s a gravity fed water system it will typically give off quite a low water pressure. This can be a problem for some showers so you may want to think about having a pump installed or raising the cold water tank up a little onto a platform.

Boiler

If you have a combination boiler then you’ll typically have quite a high water pressure. This is ideal for mixer showers which need to operate the hot and cold water at equal pressure. Mixer showers from Mira Showers are some of the best in the industry. However, as well as water pressure you also need to think about how much space you have and any special features you’re interested in.

Space

The amount of space you have available for the shower is another important factor to consider. If your bathroom is quite small you would be better off having an over the bath shower fitted. Putting up a clear glass shower screen will also create the illusion of more space. If on the other hand you have quite a large bathroom, you could even consider installing a wet room.

Features

You’ll find there’s quite a lot on offer these days – just some of the things you can look out for include accessories such as soap dishes, different spray types, a number of memory functions and rub clean nozzles. The more modern showers tend to have the most features.

From water pressure to color schemes, you should work your way through a checklist so you know exactly which type of shower you need before hitting the shops. If you live in an area which suffers with hard water, it would be a good idea to invest in a rub clean nozzle as this will limit the chances of it becoming clogged up with lime scale.
